Academy

Equipped Football is a football academy designed to prepare intermediate students for the level of college football. Our academy aims to equip players with the technical skills, tactical awareness, and resilience required to make better college teams through 1 on 6 sessions that follow the framework of two of New Zealand’s top sports achieving schools. The Boys follow the Westlake Boys Academy of Football Development Plan, while for girls, we incorporate key aspects and look into the checklist of the Westlake Girls CYGNET Football Programme. This approach ensures players receive high-quality training aligned with top secondary school football pathways. We coach at Murrays Bay Intermediate and Takapuna Normal Intermediate, with lessons run by qualified coaches who are students at Westlake Boys High School. Luca Anderson

Meet Luca Anderson, the Founder of Equipped Football Academy and a dedicated football coach at Northern Rovers. With years of experience playing and coaching, Luca is passionate about helping players develop their skills and confidence on the field. Having played football since the age of five, Luca has a deep understanding of the game and what it takes to succeed. His journey in football has shaped his coaching philosophy, focusing on technical ability, game intelligence, and mental strength. Through Equipped Football Academy, Luca is committed to providing high-quality sessions that help intermediate-aged players of all levels improve and reach their full potential. Whether you’re just starting out or striving to make the top team at your current school or future college, Luca and the team are here to guide you every step of the way.

Cade Gillies

Meet Cade Gillies, a skilled and experienced coach who has played competitive football at a high level for many years. As a current member of the Westlake Boys' High School First XI, Cade brings a deep understanding of the game. In addition to football, Cade has coached basketball and rugby for primary and intermediate students, giving him a well-rounded coaching approach. His ability to connect with young athletes and break down skills in an engaging way makes him a valuable asset to our team. We're excited to have him as a coach for Equipped Football!

Max Oates

Max Oates brings years of dedication and passion to our coaching team. Starting his football journey at the age of eight, he spent four years playing for Forrest Hill Primary before continuing his development at Westlake Boys for another four years. Now, he competes at a high level in the Under-19s at East Coast Bays. With a deep understanding of the game and a strong playing background, Max is committed to helping players refine their skills and grow their confidence on the pitch. His ability to break down techniques and tailor his coaching to different learning styles makes him a valuable mentor for young athletes.

Callum Rae

Meet Callum Rae, a dedicated and experienced coach who brings 14 years of football knowledge to our team. Currently playing in the Second XI at Westlake Boys, Callum has a strong understanding of the game and a passion for developing young players. Callum brings energy, and with two years of junior coaching experience, he knows how to break down skills and help players improve in a supportive and engaging way. Whether it's refining technique, building confidence, or sharpening tactical awareness, Callum is committed to helping every player reach their potential. We're excited to have him on board and can't wait to see the impact he makes at Equipped Football.
